Easy Comfort Classic: Our take on Cheeseburger Pie

This image was created with AI because I made this recipe last week and forgot to photograph it! In reality your bisquick dough and cheese will be more throughout the pie, but I thought it was a pretty good rendition!

There’s something about a weeknight meal that brings everyone to the table before the sun dips behind the trees. This Classic Cheeseburger Pie is one of those nostalgic, crowd-pleasing dishes that feels like a warm hug—especially when served beside your favorite handmade linens.

We’ve made this recipe more than a few times in our house. It’s simple, satisfying, and takes just minutes to pull together. Think of it as the lovechild of a cheeseburger and a savory quiche—wrapped in the golden halo of Bisquick and cheddar.

And if you’re anything like me, you know that presentation matters. Whether it’s a quiet Tuesday dinner or a casual gathering with friends, serving this pie on soft, stone-washed linen napkins and placemats brings a touch of everyday beauty to your table.

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C).

  2. In a skillet, cook the meat and onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and onion is soft. Drain any excess fat.

  3. Stir in salt, pepper, and any optional mix-ins like mustard or ketchup for a little burger-inspired tang.

  4. Spread the beef mixture evenly into a 9-inch pie plate (I like to use a ceramic dish for extra charm). Sprinkle the shredded cheddar on top.

  5. In a bowl, whisk together Bisquick, milk, and eggs until smooth.

  6. Pour the Bisquick mixture gently over the beef and cheese.

  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

  8. Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Optional Suggestions

  • Try adding 1 tbsp yellow mustard, barbecue sauce or ketchup mixed in or on top prior to baking.

  • Like meat? Try adding in cooked chopped bacon or try turkey instead of beef.

  • Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, or your favorite burger sauce.

  • Don’t eat meat? Try it with the ‘meatless crumbles’!

  • A green salad or crispy roasted potatoes make the perfect sidekick.

  • Don’t forget the dill pickles!

This pie is a wonderful canvas for creativity—and leftovers are just as delicious the next day. Whether you're plating it up on your everyday table or dressing things up with a linen table runner and napkins, it’s a dish that always feels like home.

✨ For a naturally relaxed table setting, I love layering textures—think a washed linen runner in a soft oatmeal tone, paired with our 16” linen napkins and a well-loved ceramic pie dish, I always use my late mother’s vintage pie plate. These little details add warmth and intention to even the simplest weeknight meals.

There’s something about linen that invites you to slow down and enjoy what’s in front of you. Whether you're setting the table for your family or sharing this cheeseburger pie with friends on the porch, beautiful linens make it feel just a bit more special. All of my linens are made by hand right here in Maine, using natural fibers that get softer with every wash. If you’re looking to refresh your kitchen or table for spring, I’ve added a few new pieces to the shop—classic aprons, napkin sets, and table runners in fresh seasonal shades.

To celebrate the Spring season, shipping is free all through April on orders over $35. Use code; APRILSHOWERS, just a thank you from me to you.

Here’s to slow evenings, full plates, and cozy touches at home. 🧺
